Tuvalu National E-commerce Committee

About the Project

To ensure a fair and inclusive development of the country’s e-commerce ecosystem in a way that could support broader development objectives, such as those proposed by the Te Kete, the Ministry of Fisheries and Trade spearheaded the development of a National E-commerce Committee (NEC) in 2022.

The main objective of the Committee is to coordinate all activities related to the digital trade space. The Committee hosts as Members the representatives of the main government departments and other e-commerce stakeholders. Entities represented in the NEC are the Department of ICT, the Department of Business, the Attorney General’s Office, National Bank of Tuvalu, Development Bank of Tuvalu, Tuvalu National Private Sector Organization and Financial Institutions.

The Committee is chaired by the CEO for the Department of ICT. The CEO for the Department of Trade (DOT) is the Co-chair of the Committee, and DOT will carry out a Secretariat role. This Committee is not part or under supervision of the National Trade Steering Committee.
