Tarawa, Kiribati – 10 July 2026 – Five promising MSMEs from Kiribati have commenced a new phase of their digital business journey through the coaching and grant component of the PIFS E-Biz Plus program. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to support Pacific MSMEs in building digital readiness, adopting e-commerce solutions, and expanding their participation in digital trade.
The five selected MSMEs are Clean Spatial Solution, JT Visual, TaRuu Pizzeria, BMTA Services, and KOT Enterprises. Representing a diverse range of sectors, these businesses demonstrate how digital technologies can support growth and innovation across Kiribati.
Clean Spatial Solution is modernising recycling and environmental management services through digital tools that replace paper-based records with mobile and web-based systems. JT Visual provides professional photography and videography services and aims to strengthen its online presence through social media and a dedicated website. BMTA Services, a family-owned business specialising in home décor and general cargo products, is seeking to improve its business systems, stock management, record keeping, and customer service processes. KOT Enterprises, a supplier of mosquito nets, plans to expand its customer reach to outer islands and remote communities through digital channels. TaRuu Pizzeria, a locally owned family business, is focused on strengthening business operations, improving order management and cost control, and expanding its customer base.
Selected through a competitive process, these businesses demonstrated strong potential to leverage digital technologies to expand market access, strengthen operations, and contribute to Kiribati’s growing digital economy.
The selected businesses will receive tailored one-on-one coaching and mentoring from a team of experienced experts. This customised support will help participants identify growth opportunities, address business challenges, strengthen digital capabilities, and develop practical strategies for success. The businesses are also eligible to receive grant funding of up to USD 5,000 to support investments that strengthen their e-commerce and digital trade activities.
The kick-off meeting marked the official commencement of the coaching and grant schemes. The event provided an opportunity for the five selected businesses to meet their coaches, connect with fellow entrepreneurs, exchange experiences, ask questions, and gain a clearer understanding of the opportunities ahead.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Mr Kaeie of Clean Spatial Solution expressed his appreciation for being selected to participate in the program.
“We want to position Clean Spatial Solution as a leading environmental and ocean management company in Kiribati by leveraging digital technology to improve waste management, strengthen ocean stewardship, and deliver innovative environmental services that benefit communities, government, and development partners,” he said.
By equipping local businesses with the skills, networks, mentorship, and financial resources needed to participate in digital trade, the program delivers on Measures 6.1.2 and 7.1.1 of the Pacific Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap. Through initiatives such as E-Biz Plus, Pacific entrepreneurs are better positioned to seize new market opportunities, strengthen business resilience, and contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth across the region.
The program is delivered by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) through the Pacific Digital Economy Programme (PDEP), which is funded by Australia, the European Union and New Zealand.
