Pacific Data Hub expands to cover Pacific E-commerce statistics

A comprehensive Pacific E-commerce Dataset is now online through a partnership between the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), the Pacific Community (SPC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The dataset aims to assist Pacific Governments and businesses in making well-informed decisions regarding national and regional policymaking.

The Pacific dataset on ecommerce is the first of its kind for the region. The full dataset can be accessed on Pacific Data Hub, with a simplified and easy-to-use version embedded in the Pacific Ecommerce Portal.

According to Mr Peter Ellis, Director of the SPC’s Statistics for Development Division “the cooperation between PIF, UNCTAD, and SPC on e-commerce statistics is a testament to the regional partnership in the area of digital trade. Thanks to this partnerships officials, practitioners, and donors across the region will be able to get a quick and accurate overview on the state of play of the e-commerce enabling environment, something which will facilitate policy-making and a targeted allocation of Aid-for-Trade”.
