E-commerce Strategy Development in the Pacific

Kiribati

About the Program

As Measure 1.1.1 of the Pacific Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap points out, E-commerce assessments have benefitted Forum Island Countries in the past years, but for most, a vision for E-commerce development has yet to be developed.

The Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap provides a blueprint for FICs to inform their own national E-commerce strategies using a uniform ‘language’ and methodology. All strategies under this program address the seven key policy areas of criticla importance to cross-border and domestic E-commerce development:

  • E-commerce policies and strategies;
  • Legal and regulatory frameworks;
  • ICT infrastructure and E-commerce support services ecosystem;
  • Trade facilitation and logistics ecosystem;
  • Payment solutions for E-commerce;
  • Access to financing initiatives in E-commerce; and
  • E-Commerce skills development.
