Siuhuu is excited to announce the addition of Papua New Guinea’s vendors to its platform. This expansion broadens its coverage across the Pacific region, diversifying the range of products and services available for costumers.
Launched in 2022, Siuhuu is the first online marketplace dedicated to connecting and empowering Pacific Island communities by providing a platform where they can buy, sell, and showcase their unique and traditional products on a global stage.
Mrs Akanesi Kaufusi, Tongan Founder and Director, stated, “Our mission is to support the entrepreneurial spirit of our people by offering a secure, reliable, and user-friendly marketplace. We aim to break geographical barriers, making Pacific Island products accessible worldwide, ensuring safe and secure transactions, and providing a cost-effective solution for small Pacific Island businesses to establish an online presence.”
The new vendors from Papua New Guinea join a growing network of over 200 Pacific suppliers from the Cook Islands, Tonga, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. These suppliers offer a diverse range of products, including clothing, jewellery, food, and beverages. Siuhuu is actively working to onboard suppliers from Fiji and has plans to gradually include all Pacific Island nations.
To enhance its services, the platform regularly updates its features, integrating advanced payment solutions and improving mobile accessibility. These ongoing improvements are designed to build a vibrant community where Pacific Islanders can support each other’s businesses, showcase their artistic talents, and transform their creative passions into profitable ventures.
The establishment of Siuhuu supports the implementation of Measure 3.4.2 of the Pacific Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap (the Strategy). This measure aims to expand leading national marketplaces towards the creation of a private sector-led Regional E-commerce Marketplace (REM). Another notable example is the Maua Platform, which originally launched in Samoa and has since expanded to also include the Vanuatu market.
As a result, Siuhuu features on the Development section of the Pacific E-commerce Portal. Following recent upgrades, project pages hosted on the Portal are integrated with a Monitoring and Evaluation system, which ensures live tracking of progress on implementation for the Strategy.
